When the Lore Group asked cocktail megastar Mr Lyan to open a basement bar at One Hundred Shoreditch, the result was always going to be magnetic.
We worked with the team to translate their vision into a low-lit, vibrant identity. Inspired by the drinks being poured, the stripped-back, analogue aesthetic is a nod to the unseen science of mixology.

Background
Ryan’s bars are always highly regarded. His others (White Lyan, Dandelyan, Superlyan, Lyaness and Silver Lyan) have all enjoyed rave industry reviews. His audiences include the most discerning cocktail lovers, as well as the general public looking to seek out the latest hottest bars on the scene.
Seed Library was Ryan’s newest venture. His vision was to create a visually engaging and memorable brand identity, bringing to life a ‘lo-fi, analogue’ aesthetic. He wanted it to be: “stripped back but confident” and was keen to avoid anything literal (“no pictures of seeds or libraries!”).
Solution
We created patterns inspired by scientific & mathematical diagrams, intertwined with text about black holes. A nod to Ryan’s scientific background and an abstract representation of the weird & wonderful processes the Lyan team go through in discovering alternative flavour sources. The words in the foreground are a code of sorts. Ryan: “like a camera, translating nature in an unexpected way”.
